When should I contact a paralegal?

Paralegals helpThere is no straightforward answer to this question, but in general, when your legal issue is one of relative simplicity or the cost of hiring a lawyer is prohibitive, you should consider hiring a paralegal.

Many attorneys use the services of paralegals. Many of a paralegal's duties require more education than a regular family practice law firm.

Responsibility

Paralegals do research, and often, if they are working for smaller law firms, they will fill the need in doing legal secretarial work too. Paralegals frequently have more qualifications than lawyers in specialized areas such as WSIB cases or even in Personal Property Security Act issues. It is the responsibility of all PSO members that the work they perform be within their capacity or they must refer their clients to a lawyer.
